An all-round performance from Real Madrid propelled them to a thumping victory against Las Palmas on matchday 20 of La Liga.
The defence looked comfortable after conceding the opening goal, midfield was like a machine, and everyone in the attacking trio was involved on the goal scoring front.
Here is how the Real Madrid players fared against Las Palmas.
Player ratings:
Thibaut Courtois: 6.5
Conceded only 27 minutes into the game and it was not his fault. Made a save a few minutes later and was just an onlooker for the rest of the match.
Lucas Vazquez: 7.0
Made a rookie mistake and allowed Fabio Silva to run into space to score the opener. But made up for it with an assist for Rodrygo’s goal and drew a foul which led to a red card for Benito Ramirez.
Raul Asencio: 7.0
Fine outing from the young Spaniard. Started the play for Brahim Diaz’s goal after playing a pass for Kylian Mbappe. Swept the ball out of danger thrice and held his ground for the rest of the match.
Antonio Rüdiger: 7.0
Made life difficult for the Las Palmas attack after the first goal and was rock solid at the back. Earned himself a rest in the final 15 minutes.
Fran García: 8.0
Arguably his best performance in a Real Madrid shirt. Was useful going up the pitch and assisted Rodrygo as a reward. Showed his improved progress defensively by making 4 tackles and a couple of clearances and interceptions.
Dani Ceballos: 9.5
Perhaps the most improved player in this squad and put on a world class show at the Bernabeu. Did not put a foot wrong and was outstanding with his ball progression. 101 touches, 3 key passes, 12/12 duels won, 7 tackles, 5 interceptions – a performance Toni Kroos and Luka Modric would be proud of. Received a deserved standing ovation when he was subbed off.
Fede Valverde: 7.0
May have had his first goal from inside the box this season but was unfortunately ruled offside. 64 touches and made a couple of tackles. Decent performance.
Jude Bellingham: 7.5
Visible that he was hungry for a goal and wanted to join the party. Seemingly had second thoughts inside the final third and did not end up with a well deserved goal. Won 9/9 duels, 5 shots in total and 1 key pass.
Brahim Díaz: 7.5
Should have scored in the opening couple of minutes but shockingly missed an open goal. But made up for it by scoring into the empty net thanks to a Vazquez assist. Another good day at the office for the Moroccan.
Rodrygo: 9.0
It is really unfortunate that he does not get to play on the left wing week in week out due to Vinicius being present in the squad. Scored a goal, recorded an assist and earned a penalty. Made 4 key passes, created 2 big chances and won the battle against his marker.
Kylian Mbappe: 10.0
A performance worth standing up and applauding. Easily his best display in a Real Madrid shirt. Unfortunate to not have a first-half hattrick but scored a penalty, smashed the ball home for the second and had his shot from outside the box saved. Deserved Man of the Match. If this is him when he is out of form, imagine what he could while in form.
Substitutes:
David Alaba: 7.0
Perfect time for him to come on after more than a year, when the game was all but settled. Did not overdo stuff and kept it simple alongside Asencio.
Arda Güler: 6.5
Just 19 touches but made most of those. Dribbles in tight spaces, won a duel and even made a tackle.
Chema: N/A
Full of potential but just won a duel which is not enough to warrant a rating.
Endrick: 6.0
Had 6 touches, made a key pass and 2 interceptions also. Decent for 7 minutes on the pitch.
