Speaking in an interview with France Football over the weekend, Netherlands and Corinthians striker Memphis Depay (31) revealed that his final dream as a player is to win the upcoming World Cup 2026 with the Netherlands. The Former Olympique Lyonnais captain joined the Brazilian league last September, after representing the Oranje at UEFA Euro 2024 when the Netherlands were knocked out by England at the semi-final stage.“My last dream as a player? Winning the World Cup. We came very close in 2014 in Brazil,” said Depay, referring to his side’s elimination by Argentina in the semi-finals (0-0, 2-4 on penalties). “I would like to continue to inspire the new generation. To show them that it is important to be yourself on and off the field. To be confident, to not think about how you are judged, to have your own character.”“We are entering a new era, with players who have this state of mind, and I think I have, in my own way, played a small part in that,” finished the former Manchester United, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid frontman.
