Mikel Merino says “everything is starting to click” for him at Arsenal and that he is loving life at the club.

The midfielder arrived at the Gunners from Real Sociedad last summer and despite being dealt an injury blow soon after joining, has gone on to make 20 appearances under Mikel Arteta so far this season.

And Merino says he feels confident in having adapted to the demands of the club.

“I think everything is starting to click for me,” he said. “I’m starting to finally understand everything perfectly.

“I know the rhythms in the team. I know the rhythms in the training sessions. I’m starting to build a relationship with everyone at a deeper level, which needs time.

“But yeah, I’m really, really happy. I think this is the right place for me. It’s unbelievable how good everyone is taking care of me.

“I’m really proud of being an Arsenal player. Hopefully in the future it’s going to be even better.”

Merino is set to be involved again when the Gunners take on Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup.

The 28-year-old also says the expectation at Arsenal is different to something he has experienced before.

“Yeah, that’s something that has changed a little bit from my past,” he said. “This is a club where you have huge pressure every single game.

“But as we like to say, pressure is a privilege. If you have pressure, it means that you are fighting for the huge things. That’s what players like me and players like the ones we have in the team want to do. Playfor big titles. And obviously having pressure is good news always.”

The cup tie with Man Utd will see Arsenal take part in the NO MORE RED campaign for the fourth year running, with the club wearing an all-white kit as part of the campaign to help keep young people safe from knife crime and violence in north London.

“Wearing this kit is going to be a really proud moment for us, trying to represent and trying to show and fight for their (the fans) wellness,” Merino said.
