MIAMI – The Mexico men’s national team retained first place in the latest Concacaf Men's National Team Rankings update after winning its first Concacaf Nations League trophy.
The Concacaf Ranking Index grades all national teams across the confederation. Nations gain points for results in the on-going Nations League, the Concacaf Gold Cup, and other international matches.

CNL champions Mexico leads the rankings
Mexico (1,946) leads the overall rankings after winning the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals.
With consecutive braces from Raúl Jiménez, Mexico won its first CNL trophy by defeating Canada and Panama. Javier Aguirre’s side improved 81 points to retain the top spot in the Concacaf Ranking Index.
Canada and Panama jump USA after CNL Finals
Canada (1,837) rose 14 units to become the new second place team in the rankings. The Reds fell to champions Mexico in the CNL semifinals before winning the third place match the United States.
Panama (1,778) retained its place as the highest-ranked nation from Central America and rose to third overall with its second-place finish in the 2025 CNL Finals. Los Canaleros became the first Central American side to reach the final and achieved its best finish as runners-up.
The United States (1,712), fell from second to fourth place following losses to Panama and Canada. The former Concacaf Nations League champions dropped by 116 points.
Suriname leads the biggest movers after advancing to Gold Cup group stage
Suriname (1,223) was the most improved side by moving up four spots to 12th overall. Guyana (1,069) was the next most improved side, moving up two places to 17th overall.
Martinique (1,202) at 14th and Nicaragua (1,115) at 16th are the sides that fell the most, each moving down three spots in the rankings. The United States was next, dropping two spots to fourth.
Panama provided the biggest upset in CNL Semifinal
The biggest upset of the month came as Panama, formerly fourth overall, won 1-nil against then second-ranked USA in the semifinals of the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League. Cecilio Waterman delivered the match-winning goal in the 90+4’ to decide the encounter in regulation.
