Injuries and a packed schedule is causing distress at Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield Town manager Michael Duff stressed that his side must stay focused and battle through their current adversity ahead of their third three-game week in a row.

The packed schedule has had a tough effect on his players, with the injury list at the John Smith's Stadium reaching double figures lately.

It's had a clear impact on the pitch too; the Terriers have won just three League One games since Boxing Day and have gone from a side many backed to join Birmingham City in the automatic promotion places to one that is now embroiled in a dog fight for a place in the top six.

It looks like a tough one to turn around, but Michael Duff found answers earlier in the season and now looks for more amidst Huddersfield's current poor form.

Michael Duff gives honest assessment on the current state of Huddersfield Town

Michael Duff didn't hold back when criticising his side's most recent performance, as Huddersfield lost away at Wigan Athletic.

"If we keep performing like at Wigan, we won't get the points we need. We need to concentrate on ourselves," he said according to The Yorkshire Post.

"We've got to keep grafting, we're still fifth in the league - unbelievably. You have got to trust in the way you work and core values and not come off script."

Duff did sympathise with his players slightly though, as Huddersfield continue to be embroiled in an extraordinary injury crisis.

Jonathan Hogg and David Kasumu fell victim to the injury bug surrounding Huddersfield Town prior to and during the Wigan game, adding to an injury list which is now in double figures.

On the current injury issues, Duff said: "We can't train [properly]. We do all the work in pre-season and we want to play with a back five ideally.

"It's difficult to get any time on the training ground as the players are absolutely out on their feet.

"I don't know what the formation will be or who will be available on Thursday and we'll travel down to Stevenage on Friday. We'll come in, count the bodies and have some honest conversations and hopefully put out a competitive team [on Saturday]."

Michael Duff is looking for yet another change in fortune this season

Despite still residing in the top six in League One, Huddersfield Town needs to find a way to regain some form as the sides behind them continue to breathe down their necks.

A brief two-game winning run against Barnsley and Shrewsbury Town had many Terriers fans feeling that things were beginning to look up again, but back-to-back defeats since have brought back worries.

Even more concerning is their home form since the turn of the year. Huddersfield are still yet to score at the John Smith's Stadium in 2025, drawing twice and losing 1-0 on three separate occasions.

But Michael Duff will feel he has the tools to turn this poor form around, having followed a period in September where his side lost four straight in the league with a sixteen-game unbeaten run which lasted until January.

The Huddersfield boss believes that periods of success are made greater when they follow adversity and Duff is hoping that his side will be celebrating come the end of the season.

"I think we've got some good staff and some good players. We have to be careful we don't 'out' people and things like that," he said.
