Middlesbrough set to finalise player agreement ahead of Championship rivals | OneFootball

Middlesbrough are set to reach an agreement with Neil Taylor that will see him remain at the club until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old only joined Boro back in November on a short-term deal which is set to expire in the next two weeks. However, with Taylor having impressed on Teesside, featuring in two games where Boro won both and kept clean sheets, they wanted to extend his stay.

But, the situation was complicated after a host of Championship clubs, including West Brom, Coventry and Bristol City were all credited with an interest in the player.

So, a decision needed to be made and Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas revealed today that Taylor is poised to continue with Boro.

The update explains how the former Swansea man will agree a deal that will run for the rest of the campaign before deciding his long-term future ahead of next season, with Taylor seemingly keen on playing abroad at some point in his career after there was interest in him from India and the Middle East.

This is good news for Middlesbrough as Taylor is a useful squad player to have as he boasts plenty of experience and has succeeded at this level in the past.

More importantly, his performances in recent weeks show he still has a lot to offer on the pitch and securing him on a deal for the rest of the season makes sense.

That will continue what has been an impressive start to the window for Chris Wilder, who is building something impressive at Middlesbrough.
