Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that star winger Bukayo Saka has undergone surgery for the hamstring injury he suffered at Crystal Palace last week.
The talismanic forward seemed to be in great discomfort after leaving the Selhurst Park pitch in Arsenal's 5-1 thumping win, and the prognosis appears to be worse than anticipated.
After initial reports suggested the England international would not need surgery to repair his injured hamstring, Arteta has revealed that a procedure was necessary after all.
"He had a procedure, everything went well," Arteta said after Arsenal's victory over Ipswich Town Friday evening.
"But unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks."
Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League after 18 games, six points behind league leaders Arsenal.
