Mikel Desler to leave Toulouse for Austin FC next season | OneFootball

According to Foot Mercato, Toulouse may lose their right back, Mikkel Desler (28), next season.

La Téfécé have suffered so far this season, and find themselves within the relegation battle. Over the winter break, Toulouse sat in 16th place which would see them contest a relegation playoff. However, a rare victory in their return to league football has pushed the club up to 14th.

Over the summer, Toulouse reduced their squad’s average age when they released an experienced quartet of players, and they now have the youngest squad in Ligue 1. These efforts to focus on youth look to see another experienced player out the door.

Desler is coming to the end of his contract with Toulouse, and will likely leave at the end of the season. Foot Mercato reports that the player has almost reached an agreement with MLS outfit, Austin FC.

The fullback has played nineteen games across all competitions for La Téfécé and will be a big loss for a young team that has struggled to emulate its performances from the season before.
