Kyle Walker touched down in Italy on Thursday to take the medicals, while he sealed his transfer and put pen to paper with Milan on Friday. The announcement hasn’t been made yet. There were no hiccups but just small bureaucratic details to sort out, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The veteran joins in a season-long loan with a €5M option to buy. The Rossoneri will cover his €2.5M wages until the end of the campaign. If everything goes well, he’ll be redeemed and ink a deal until 2027 in June, making €4.5M annually.

Walker won’t be available for the match between Milan and Parma due to the red tape related to his residence permit. He won’t be available against Dinamo Zagreb either because he has already starred for Manchester City in the Champions League group stage.

The Rossoneri envisioned him taking over the right-back position from Emerson Royal and also using him in the middle of the defense. The former Tottenham man has suffered a high-degree calf strain and will be out for two-to-three months, which will end any chatter about a January exit, Sky relays.

The 34-year-old has over 400 Premier League and 50 Champions League appearances under his belt. He moved to Manchester City in 2017 after a long spell at Tottenham. He contributed to winning the domestic title six times and the top continental cup once, among other trophies, and has 93 caps with England.

Our Take on Milan and Walker

It’s quite the shift from their usual MO given his age and salary, but they need some leadership, hoping he has something left in the tank after a subpar first half of the season.
