Newcastle asked after Milan defender Fikayo Tomori in recent days but have also shown interest in Fikayo Tomori, while Milan inquired about Kieran Trippier.
Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto report on X, formerly Twitter, that Newcastle have resumed talks with Milan asking for information about German defender Thiaw.
Newcastle had previously contacted Milan to inquire about Tomori, but both he and Thiaw are an important part of Milan’s project, so the Rossoneri are reportedly unwilling to sell.
However, calciomercato.com claims that Milan’s asking price for Tomori is between €40m and €50m.
According to Romano, Milan sounded out Trippier’s availability during the latest round of talks with Newcastle, but talks for the England international are not at an advanced stage.
Other sources have also linked Newcastle with Juventus defender Federico Gatti, and Romano confirms that Thiaw isn’t the Magpies’ only defensive transfer target for this summer.
Newcastle secured a deal to sign Sandro Tonali from Milan in an €80m deal last summer but the Italian midfielder was suspended for ten months in a gambling scandal and will return to action this coming August.
