New Milan signing Alvaro Morata is expected to miss Milan’s next few Serie A matches after picking up a muscular injury, despite scoring on his Rossoneri debut on Saturday.

Milan lose Morata for at least three weeks

Morata is expected to miss a minimum of three weeks, possibly more, which rules him out of Milan’s next two Serie A matches against Parma and Lazio in the coming weeks. He is also likely to miss out on Spain’s upcoming Nations League fixtures at the beginning of September.

Reports late on Monday night suggest that the issue came about on Friday, as Milan were putting in their final preparations for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Torino.

Though Morata did not start, he came on mid-way through the second half. Gianluca Di Marzio suggests that he suffered somewhat of a relapse at some stage of the Torino match.

The 31-year-old made his league debut for the Rossoneri on Saturday, coming off the bench to score the first of Milan’s two late goals.

His effort in the 89th minute came just a few moments before Noah Okafor powered in a crucial equaliser on what was also Paulo Fonseca’s first league match in charge of the club.
