Milan’s Primavera side suffered a defeat that complicates their pursuit of the play-off spots, losing to Sampdoria 2-1 on Monday.
Federico Guidi’s boys headed into the clash with confidence after a draw against Inter which preceded a 3-1 away win against the league-leaders Roma. Thus, hopes were high that a push for the play-offs could continue.
The first goal for relegation-battling Sampdoria came in the 43rd minute when Papasergio put in a deep cross before Nhaga then found Patrignani who tapped it home from close range, making it 0-1.
In the 50th minute they doubled their lead when Ntanda set up Bačić, who beat Colzani to make it 0-2. The Rossoneri reacted straight away with attempts from Hodzic and Scotti, yet they couldn’t get the goal to reopen the game.
Just before the hour mark Scotti did get his goal, capitalising on a poor clearance from Krastev. In the last few minutes, Milan nearly found an equaliser through Liberali, Asanji and Nissen, though they would ultimately be frustrated.
Milan now sit in seventh place, and on Saturday in their next game Milan will face Cesena who finished their game against Fiorentina in a 2-2 draw.
