Francesco Camarda added another notch to his precocity records, as he became the youngest Italian player to feature in a Champions League game at 16 years and 226 days. He beat the previous holder, Moise Kean, by about 40 days, Calciomercato informs.
He’s the seventh youngest prodigy to ever debut in the top continental competition behind Youssoufa Moukoko, Lamine Yamal, Celestine Babayaro, Rayan Cherki, Alen Halilovic, and Youri Tielemans.
Camarda obviously notched a Milan record as well, taking it away from Bryan Cristante. The starlet scored but it was waved off. He commented to Sky after the match.
“I’m very proud for this achievement, and it pushes me to work harder to make sure that nights like this one happen more often. The goal was the biggest emotion, but the VAR pulled a fast one on me. I’m very disappointed for that, but these things happen often in today’s football.” “It’s absolutely the best day in my life. I can’t find the words to describe it. It’s that kind of stuff you dream of since you were a kid. As far as the Futuro squad and the Youth League go, I take whatever I can get. I don’t know when I realized I could make it. You imagine that in your head and playing at the park. It really happened in the end.”
Camarda has scored once in five Serie C appearances so far and twice in the cup. He could have more opportunities with the first team as Tammy Abraham is expected to miss more matches due to a shoulder injury.
