Millwall closing in on transfer move for Middlesbrough ace | OneFootball

Millwall are said to be in advanced talks to re-sign midfielder George Saville from Middlesbrough, as per a recent report by Football Insider.

The 28-year-old previously left the New Den to make the move to the North East in January 2019 and could now be set for a sensational return to the capital after two years away.

As stated in the report, negotiations are progressing well between the two parties and it appears that terms could soon be agreed in order for the player to depart the Riverside Stadium.

Saville currently has one year remaining on his contract with Boro, which suggests that the Lions will pay a fee for his services as he prepares to head south for a medical.

The midfielder previously played just south of 70 games for Millwall, whilst he is set to leave Middlesbrough after making 118 appearances across all competitions.

If he moves to the New Den, it will be Gary Rowett’s fourth addition of the summer after bringing in George Long, Scott Malone and Daniel Ballard from Hull City, Derby County and Arsenal respectively.

The Verdict

Saville is a combative midfield player who has also added goals and assists to his game in more recent times, meaning that Millwall will be bringing back a more complete player than the one they sold two years ago.

He should slot in nicely to the midfield and will probably take on the role that Ryan Woods had under Rowett before he headed back to Stoke City.

The Lions are conducting their business very quickly this summer and it could certainly be something that falls in their favour as it allows the group to build cohesion quickly.

Rowett clearly wants his squad complete before the pre-season friendlies and based on their current progress, they are well on their way to doing just that.
