Miralem Pjanic heaped praise on Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri’s managerial style and reflected on his time with the Bianconeri.
UAE-based club Sharjah midfielder, Miralem Pjanic was nostalgic and felt pride in playing an integral role in Juventus’ golden generation as he voiced his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Tuttosport. The former Bianconeri spent a total of 9 seasons in the Serie A, five with Roma and four with Juventus, as he rose to fame in becoming one of the best midfielders of his generation.
The 32-year-old pointed out that manager Massimiliano Allegri was the key architect behind Juventus’ dominating team, as he said: “Winning, as coach Allegri always says, is an extraordinary thing. We made it a bit trivial.”
Pjanic also claimed that Allegri was the man necessary for the Bianconeri to turn things around and in that context, he said: “I’ve always said that no one would have been able to turn this situation around more than Allegri. And in fact today I hear much fewer people talking… The situation is calmer, as far as the sporting side is concerned, precisely because Allegri has put Juve back on the right track.
The former Juventus man moved on to point out Allegri’s capability to find optimism in dire situations and use that to yield favourable results from his players – similar to what has happened this season at the Bianconeri.
“At Juve the pressure really comes from all sides: you are obliged to win, to be among the first. But Allegri knows how to get into the players’ heads, he keeps them calm during the storm. It is no coincidence that he is one of the most successful coaches in the history of Italian football: there are those who win and those who don’t. He is very prepared, he knows the environment. This year has taken him a little while, but he has also been very unlucky with injuries. Yet I’ve never seen him complain. He does with what he has available at that moment. He managed this enormous crisis situation perfectly at a time when there was also a change in management.”
In a battle of the masterminds and the top two teams in the league this Friday, the Bianconeri lock horns with Napoli. Pjanic reflected on the two managers involved and said: “Well, the point is that in any case we are talking about two great coaches. Then, I can expose myself a little more about Allegri because I worked a lot with him and I was able to win everything: he’s a winner. Point. I worked less with Spalletti, but even playing against him you perceive exactly what you felt from within: the team is always well placed on the pitch.”
