Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits he will be thinking about the narrowly disallowed goal ‘for the rest of my life’ after Inter’s 3-3 thriller with Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.
It was the game of the season at Montjuic, because while some painted this as attack against defence, the Nerazzurri showed their quality by taking the lead within 30 seconds off a Marcus Thuram back-heel flick, then two Denzel Dumfries acrobatic finishes.
Barca fought back, equalising thanks to Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and the Raphinha strike that cannoned off the crossbar to force a Yann Sommer own goal.
It was almost 4-3 for Inter when Mkhitaryan hit the back of the net, but the Semi-Automatic Offside Technology showed his toes were offside.

“I might think of it for the rest of my life,” the midfielder told Amazon Prime Video Italia.
“It was at a moment where we could’ve had the lead, unfortunately I was offside by 2-3 centimetres. Our heads are high, we hope to get a positive result in the second leg too.”

The performance was entirely unexpected considering Inter were coming off three consecutive defeats in all competition, which saw their hopes of a Treble disappear.
They crashed out of the Coppa Italia semi-final, losing 3-0 to Milan, and fell three points adrift of new Serie A leaders Napoli.
“It was a difficult moment for us, as there was fatigue, but we in the dressing room know we must have that final push so that we end the season without regrets. We are giving our all to get results,” added Mkhitaryan.
That means it will all be decided at San Siro on Tuesday May 6. Will it be a similar thriller when these teams meet again in Milan?
“I cannot say what will happen in the second leg. We can do more when attacking and keeping the ball, obviously Barcelona are a very strong team, but so are we,” concluded Mkhitaryan.
