The only way to get out of a goal-scoring slump is to play your way out of it. And now Olivier Giroud won't even have the chance to do that, at least not this Saturday.

Giroud was one of the most notable and surprising names on the MLS Player Status Report for Matchday 4, listed as out for Saturday's lunchtime clash against Austin FC with an unspecified leg injury.

Manager Steve Cherundolo did not give any indication of an injury to his veteran striker during his pregame press conference on Friday. And Giroud came off the bench in Leg 2 of LAFC's Concacaf Champions Cup round-of-16 series with Columbus on Tuesday night, entering in the 82nd minute and playing through the final whistle.

Giroud's much-publicized struggles to even get chances with his MLS team had likely landed him behind Jeremy Ebobisse on LAFC's current striking depth chart anyway. The latter played both Legs of the CCC series, which LAFC won 4-2 on aggregate. Giroud did not appear at all in Leg 1, and then spelled Ebobisse on the weekend in league play, in a 5-2 loss at the Seattle Sounders.

Giroud is France's all-time leading international goal-scorer and despite being 38, only a year removed from completing a 15-goal season with AC Milan in Italy's Serie A. But he remains scoreless through 720 MLS minutes (13 appearances, 8 starts), and has only two goals for LAFC in all competions -- one in their 2024 U.S. Open Cup final victory, and one in their 2024 Leagues Cup final defeat.

Djordje a question for Rapids

Elsewhere, Djordje Mihailovic is listed as questionable with a hamstring problem for the Colorado Rapids, who hit the road for the second time in as many weeks with a trip to the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.

Mihailovic has played every minute of Colorado's five competitive matches so far across all competitions.. He scored both Colorado's goals in that series, and had an assist each on Matchdays 2 and 3.

Mihailovic dealt with an ankle sprain at the end of last season that was one of several injuries to disrupt Colorado's playoff preparations. The Rapids lost their Round One series to the LA Galaxy in two games, getting outscored 9-1 in the process.

What was feared on Wednesday night in Mexico City has proven true: Seattle Sounders winger Paul Arriola has torn his ACL and could be done for the season.

Arriola joins Pedro de la Vega (quadriceps), Jordan Morris (hamstring) and Yeimar Gomez (not injury related) among those unavailable for Saturday night's tilt in St. Louis, after suffering the non-contact injury during Wednesday night's match in Concacaf at Cruz Azul.
