MN: Why Conceicao’s decisions regarding Joao Felix are perplexing

Given the precedents at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, AC Milan fans expected to see Rafael Leao from the start against Napoli, but Sergio Conceiçao went for Joao Felix.
As MilanNews write, in the face of yet another disappointing performance from the Chelsea-owned player, the supporters and pundits have asked only one question: why play Felix?
As much as he may be a quality player – albeit unexpressed since he arrived at Milan – Joao Felix has only shown glimpses of something good on two occasions, against Roma in his debut in the Coppa Italia and in the incredible away match in Lecce last March 8.
In addition to these anonymous performances, in the away match in Naples it felt like the ex-Benfica starlet remained on the pitch longer than expected, especially if we consider the contribution given to the Rossoneri cause by Samuel Chukwueze.
Of course, the Nigerian was not that decisive, but at least he gave a glimpse of something, even skilfully overcoming his marker more than once by dribbling and laying in a more direct way.
In short, Joao Felix is the perfect image of Milan’s season, where inconsistency has prevailed over everything. And at this point another question must be asked: why leave Leao on the bench to focus on a player who will no longer be part of the team group next year?
According to his agent Jorge Mendes, Felix’s future could be in Turkey, at Galatasaray. Thus, Conceiçao’s choice to start him becomes even more incomprehensible.
