Luka Modrić is now in the top five Madrid players with the most appearances in the history of the European Cup. The midfielder, who started against Union Berlin, has made 110 appearances in Europe's top competition for our club, surpassing Roberto Carlos (109). He is now only behind other Real Madrid legends like Casillas (152), Benzema (133), Raúl (132) and Sergio Ramos (129). After five European Cups, Modrić is one of the most decorated players in the history of the competition. The Croatian has started all these finals and took the corner for Ramos' unforgettable goal in the final of the Décima. His first appearance as a Madrid player in the European Cup came on 18 September 2012 in a 3-2 win at the Bernabéu against Manchester City. In these 11 years he has also struck eight goals in the Champions League, the first of which was a wonder strike from outside the box at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
