Liverpool's Mohamed Salah became only the second player in the 77-year history of the award to be crowned Football Writers' Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year for a third time.
The ruthlessly prolific Egypt international has enjoyed one of the most staggering individual campaigns in Premier League history en route to Liverpool's top-flight title. With three games still remaining, Salah boasts a league-leading 28 goals and 18 assists, surpassing the record tally of direct goal involvements which had been jointly held by Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Arsenal icon Thierry Henry.
By collecting another Footballer of the Year award from the FWA, following his triumphs in 2017/18 and 2021/22, Salah also matched the high watermark Henry set by winning this award on three occasions.
Hundreds of England's football journalists have voted on the standout individual at the end of every top-flight campaign since Stanley Matthews was given the inaugural honour in 1948.

Matthews is one of seven players to have been individually recognised by the FWA on two separate occasions, yet only Henry had been granted the privilege of three titles before Salah's sensational year.
The 32-year-old forward finished above his Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk but there was little competition. Salah earned 90% of the votes, which represents "the biggest winning margin this century" according to the FWA.
"Rarely has there been a more popular winner than Mo," FWA chair John Cross wrote. "His overwhelming victory is just a reflection of an incredible season. He continues to re-write the record books and his performances this season have obviously been key to Liverpool's 20th title. It's been a privilege watching him this season and it will be a privilege to welcome him to our dinner to celebrate his success."
