Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah could face up to a month out of action, his agent has claimed.
Salah is set to return to Merseyside for treatment on a hamstring injury sustained in Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations draw with Ghana last week.
The 31-year-old’s homeland forecast he would miss the next two games for Rui Vitória’s side but could return for their potential semi-final involvement.
However Salah’s representative Ramy Abbas revealed on Monday that the Reds’ forward faces several weeks on the sidelines in the worst case scenario.
“Mohammed’s injury is more serious than first thought and he will be out for 21-28 days, and not 2 games,” said Abbas.
“His best chance at participating in the current AFCON is by undergoing intensive rehabilitation in the UK and rejoining the team as soon as he is fit.”
Salah has been integral to Liverpool’s Premier League title charge this season with 14 goals in 20 appearances prior to heading to AFCON.
