Folarin Balogun (23) is expected to return to action on Tuesday in a Groupe Élite match for AS Monaco as they face Brighton’s U23s in a friendly match in La Turbie.

Balogun has not featured since the start of December. The USMNT forward suffered a dislocated shoulder during the match away to Stade Rennais in October before making a return at the end of November. However, he suffered a relapse with the feeling in the affected shoulder not quite right. The injury was aggravated against Olympique de Marseille at the start of December and the decision was taken to operate on the injury.

Prior to the international break, Adi Hütter said that the USMNT forward may return in time to face OGC Nice on Saturday. It is unclear as to whether that remains the objective but in the meantime, he will play against Brighton’s U23s in order to allow him to get back into the rhythm, according to L’Équipe. George Ilenikhena, Mamadou Coulibaly and Edan Diop may also play a part in the encounter.
