Ismail Jakobs (24) has undergone minor surgery on a knee injury suffered during AS Monaco’s 1-0 victory over Stade Rennais last Tuesday.
The Senegal international suffered the injury in the 68th minute and was replaced by Kassoum Ouattara. Post-match, Monaco manager Adi Hütter said that Jakobs would undergo an MRI scan in order to ascertain the severity of the injury. Following those tests, it was decided that Jakobs would require minor surgery on his right knee.
Get French Football News understands that Jakobs underwent surgery on Thursday. It is expected that he will miss several weeks of football, however, it is not yet certain whether his season is over. There are only six weeks remaining in the current Ligue 1 campaign.
The injury leaves the Principality club short of options at left-back. Ouattara, who was signed earlier this season as a ‘joker’ will deputise in the coming weeks. Caio Henrique, who suffered an ACL injury earlier in the season, returned to first-team training earlier this week, but it is thought that he will not be operational for several weeks.
