According to Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Montpellier are interested in Lille OSC forward Mohamed Bayo (24), who has struggled for form since his summer move from Clermont Foot.
Last season, Bayo was Clermont’s top-scorer in Ligue 1. His 14 goals helped the club remain in France’s top flight, whilst also earning him a €14m move to Lille. However, this campaign, the Guinean international has only scored five goals in all competitions in 24 appearances.
Bayo was also the subject of disciplinary action from the club after being spotted clubbing ahead of Les Dogues’ tie against Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the season. The player apologised for the incident.
However, his long-term future may not lie at Lille. According to Toubache-Ter, Montpellier are interested in the player. Les Héraults look set to remain in Ligue 1 after Michel Der Zakarian righted the ship, guiding the club into the mid-table, having been threatened by relegation for much of the campaign.
The club may have to replace Elye Wahi (20), who is attracting interest from clubs both in France and across Europe.
