Former Lazio and Inter forward Keita Balde will start training with Monza, as the relegation-threatened side is considering signing the 29-year-old if he proves fit enough to make a contribution in their fight for safety.

The Senegalese striker has played for Spartak Moscow, Espanyol and Sivasspor since last leaving Serie A in 2022 after spending a season at Cagliari but recently terminated his contract with the Turkish outfit, meaning he would now be available as a free agent.

Monza to assess Keita Balde form before weighing up forward’s signing

After selling Milan Djuric to Parma in the January transfer window, rock-bottom Monza have been on the lookout for attacking reinforcements who could help them climb out of the relegation zone, although the prospect is becoming increasingly unlikely with every passing week.

However, considering his knowledge of Serie A and his will to prove he can still make a difference, Monza consider Keita Baldé an ideal profile to add quality and unpredictability to their attack.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the forward underwent medicals on Thursday and carried out the physical tests, as he is set to take part in the Biancorossi training sessions in the next few days to allow the club to weigh up his form, before deciding whether to sign him or not.

Keita had his best Serie A season in 2016-2017, when he scored 16 goals in 31 appearances for Lazio before moving to Monaco, only to return to Italy in 2018, when he joined Inter on loan.
