Matty Henderson-Hall believes there is even more to come from City’s Elite Development Squad in the wake of Saturday’s emphatic 4-1 PL2 win over West Ham.

The defender-winger set Ben Wilkinson’s side on the way to a fifth straight league win by opening the scoring for what was his second goal in successive matches.

Though the Hammers drew level before the break, City turned up the heat in the second half scoring three more times through Jacob Wright, Justin Oboavwoduo and Emilio Lawrence to round off our best display of the season yet.

It was a real statement win that saw City leapfrog above the Hammers into top spot on goal difference.

But according to Henderson-Hall, he feels City are capable of even more looking towards the rest of the campaign.

“Everyone was really happy in the dressing room afterwards,” Henderson-Hall admitted.

“I think it showed how good we can be and what we are about.

“Everyone is so together and gets on, but we feel we can do even better than that.

“It felt like it would be really hard game but I think we were right at it from the start and they weren’t at their best which was probably down to us.”

It was a second goal in five days for Henderson-Hall in the wake of his late strike in last Tuesday’s 4-0 UEFA Youth League win at Slovan Bratislava.

And both efforts were all the more satisfying for originating from Matty being deployed further forward than usual.

“I was playing right wing [tonight] where I haven’t played that much, I probably prefer right back but I can play on the wing as I used to play there, and it was great to score again,” Henderson-Hall added.

“I had said to Emilio (Lawrence) 'If you cross it, I’ll be there at the back post' and I got a goal from it.

“It has been a good week having scored at Slovan but I’m a bit shocked as both goals have come from playing wide.

“But I’ll take them and it’s a great way to go into the October international break.”
