ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – The 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup is in the history books following LD Alajuelense’s 2-1 win over Real Estelí in the second leg of the final, winning 3-2 on aggregate, on Wednesday at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
The two-time Central American Cup champions led the way with top performances throughout the tournament, including the following players who earned individual distinctions.
Best Player Award, presented by Scotiabank: Diego Campos, LD Alajuelense
Diego Campos received the Best Player Award, presented by Scotiabank, for his involvement in helping LD Alajuelense win a second consecutive Concacaf Central American Cup. Campos was decisive throughout the campaign, totaling seven goal contributions with six goals and an assist.
The Costa Rican forward started the 2024 edition scoring five times in the group stage before adding another goal in the quarterfinals to help Alajuelense secure a 2-1 win on the road in the first leg against Comunicaciones FC. He contributed to his team’s tally in four of 10 matches during the tournament and had multiple goal contributions on three occasions.
Best Goalkeeper Award: Leonel Moreira, LD Alajuelense
Leonel Moreira earned honors as the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament for his outstanding performances in goal for champions LD Alajuelense. He was a key figure throughout the campaign, with a total of 33 saves in 10 appearances, including six in the second leg of the final.
Moreira also posted two clean sheets, both coming in crucial matchups against GFC Antigua in the semifinals.
Top Scorer Award, presented by Aramco: Diego Campos, LD Alajuelense
Campos finished the tournament with the most goals to claim the Top Scorer Award, presented by Aramco, with six goals for LD Alajuelense. The forward had two multi-goal games in the 2024 edition.
He kicked off the tournament with five goals in the group stage, followed by another goal to help Alajuelense secure a 2-1 win on the road in the first leg against Comunicaciones FC in the quarterfinals. Campos contributed to his team’s tally in four of 10 matches during the tournament.
Youth Revelation Award, presented by Aramco: Bryan Ordoñez, Real Estelí
Bryan Ordoñez is the winner of the Young Revelation Award, presented by Aramco, for his role in helping Real Estelí reach the final of the tournament for a second consecutive edition.
The 20-year-old attacker featured in nine of 10 games throughout the tournament. Ordoñez accumulated three shots and completed 81% of his passes.
Fair Play Award: LD Alajuelense
LD Alajuelense earned the Fair Play Award as the team that best conducted themselves throughout the tournament.
