Paris Saint-Germain clinched their 13th Ligue 1 title on Saturday with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Angers at Parc des Princes. While PSG celebrated, their upcoming opponent in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League could be getting a boost to their squad.
PSG dominated the first half, registering 11 shots compared to just two from Angers. However, the match remained scoreless as the teams headed into the break.
The breakthrough came in the second half when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sent a cross from the left to the far post. Desire Doue was in perfect position to volley it in with his right foot, giving PSG the lead.
Doue’s goal sealed the win and secured PSG’s second consecutive league title under Luis Enrique. Meanwhile, Aston Villa, their Champions League opponents, are on a seven-match winning streak across all competitions and are coming off a strong victory.

Aston Villa secured a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Saturday, extending their impressive run to seven consecutive wins across all competitions. After the match, Morgan Rogers spoke to Sky Sports, discussing the mindset the squad will take as they head to Paris.
“It’s going to be a massive game,” Rogers said (h/t BBC). “It’s surreal to be in that game. We will go there with confidence because we are playing well at the moment.
“They are one the best teams in the world, there is no denying that. We are in the quarter-finals for a reason. We will go there and try to win the game as always and see where it takes us. Looking forward to it.”
