Morocco manager Walid Regragui has spoken to the press for the first time since his side became the first African outfit to reach the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup history.

Morocco beat Spain in the previous round and have beaten Portugal in the quarter-finals, but they also played a role in knocking out Belgium, who lost to the African side as well.

After the game, Regragui spoke to TF1 (via A Bola) in the mixed zone about the result and the manager stated that he told the players that they just had to make history for the continent.

He stated: “After Spain, we also managed to prevail against a great team from Portugal. We gave our all, we still have some players tired, but those who play have beaten themselves to exhaustion. This group has a state of mind.”

He further stated: “Before the game, I told the boys that it was necessary to write history for Africa! I’m very, very proud of them.”
