It’s been reported by Turkish journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu on X, formerly Twitter. “Jose Mourinho will leave Istanbul today to undergo surgery abroad due to a health problem he is experiencing,” Sabuncuoglu wrote.

The Turkish journalist added shortly afterwards that Mourinho had already left Istanbul.

Mourinho signed a two-year contract with Fenerbahce last summer, just a few months after being sacked by Roma.

A legendary Serie A coach, the Special One won the treble in 2010 with Inter and conquered the first European trophy for Roma in 2022, lifting the Conference League.

Mourinho, 61, has won 93 Serie A matches from 172, and his average point per game in Italy’s top flight is 1.87.
