Newcastle United will clash heads with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park this Tuesday night as they hope to pick up a win on the road in the FA Cup. The Magpies suffered a dismal 4-1 defeat away at Arsenal recently, so they would be eager to bounce back by putting in a good performance in this cup game.

Eddie Howe will set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first XI for this game. Both Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes will get a chance to play from the start of this contest while Miguel Almiron and Anthony Gordon drop to the bench.

Defence

Loris Karius will play in goal for the Magpies once again after shipping in four goals in his last outing. Fabian Schar will function alongside Sven Botman at the centre of the Newcastle backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.

Kieran Trippier will operate as the right-back while Dan Burn hopes to prove his worth on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.

Jamaal Lascelles will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock will make up Newcastle’s midfield as they try to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park.

Lewis Miley will drop to the bench as he waits for his opportunity to make an impact in the second half if Howe opts to call upon his services.

Attack

Harvey Barnes will hope to give a good account of himself on the left flank while Jacob Murphy tries to catch the eye as the right-sided wide player. Alexander Isak will lead the line for the Magpies in the final third. He would be eager to threaten the Blackburn goal after shooting blanks against Arsenal recently.

Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if the Magpies are in need of a goal by then.
