Maxime Busi (25) has joined NAC Breda on loan from Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims for the rest of the season.
In the battle for Eredivisie survival, NAC actively sought reinforcement in the right-back position. Another factor for the signing is the continued absence of Cherrion Valerius, who was seriously injured in training after just seven matches.
The Liège-born Busi broke through at a young age with Charleroi. His performances caught the attention of the Italian side Parma, where he played in both Serie A and Serie B.
Stade de Reims brought him back to French-speaking territory in 2022. Busi played 44 matches in Ligue 1 at the Northern French club. The right-sided defender can play as both a fullback and a wingback.
Technical director Peter Maas said of the newcomer’s arrival: “Maxime is a modern and dynamic right defender who fits in perfectly with NAC with his drive and attitude. Due to the loss of Cherrion, our staff had few options in that zone. With Maxime, we can also play in different ways in the back line and in midfield. At the training camp in Spain, he can immediately join in the preparation for the important matches in January.”
