NAC Breda have released a new third shirt today, to commemorate the liberation of the city of Breda in the Second World War.

The shirt, grey with a nostalgic print below the sponsorship frontage, depicts a friendly match between Breda and Polish liberators. The Brabant club wrote on its own website:

“Just before the official eightieth anniversary of the liberation of our beautiful city on October 29 by the 1st Polish Armoured Division led by General Stanisław Maczek, the webshop has been filled with this unique grey outfit with black print.”

“The black print shows a memorable photo of a friendly match on the Beatrixstraat between Breda (with a large number of NAC players) and the Polish liberators.

“One of the players who will probably be in action that day is Alfred ‘Freddy’ Wieliszek, who will eventually (went on to) become a full-fledged NAC player and (an) appointed member of the Order of Orange-Nassau and an honorary citizen of the city.”

There will only be 1,200 editions of this special shirt for fans and collectors alike to buy. It follows NAC Breda’s previous 2024-25 strips that also both centre around the liberation 80 years ago.

Breda’s liberation celebrations look to take place next Saturday. There, they take on fellow provincial team RKC Waalwijk at home. Before that, the Breda team prepares for a visit to PEC Zwolle this Sunday.
