Napoli are evaluating the situation surrounding Girona midfielder Ivan Martin, who is available on a €12m release clause this summer, according to reports from transfer expert Matteo Moretto.
The Partenopei are keen to add another midfielder to their ranks, even more so after losing out on Marco Brescianini, who officially completed his move to Atalanta from Frosinone on Friday.
Moretto, via Relevo, reports that Napoli could make an approach in the coming hours for Martin, who has two years remaining on his current contract with Girona.
If the player does move this summer, his former club Villarreal will be entitled to 30% of the fee.
The Yellow Submarine also had a buy-back clause earlier this summer at around €4m, but decided against bringing Martin back. They can also sign him for €6m next summer, which would still actually only cost the club around €4m due to their sell-on clause.
Antonio Conte has not hidden his feelings when it comes to Napoli’s transfer business so far this summer. The club have brought in Alessandro Buongiorno, Leonardo Spinazzola and Rafa Marin, but they are still after multiple midfielders, a new winger and Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
Much of Napoli’s future business this window still depends on the sale of Victor Osimhen, though.
