Napoli ultimately kept their powders dry in January despite cashing in €75M from the sale of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. It won’t be the case in the summer, especially considering the return to the European stage, Corriere dello Sport informs.
In addition to the sum they got from PSG, the Partenopei fully anticipate selling Victor Osimhen for something close to his €75/80M release clause. Their coffers will be full.
Napoli are unlikely to resume pursuing their recent targets, Alejandro Garnacho and Karim Adeyemi, given the issues that impeded their January arrivals. They’ll need reinforcements in every role, but the ideas abound.
Joshua Zirkzee and Ange-Yoan Bonny are top of the list to join Romelu Lukaku up front. The Partenopei have been keeping tabs on Edon Zhegrova, who didn’t want to transfer midseason but might do it in the summer. Gabri Veiga isn’t ecstatic with how things are going in Saudi Arabia and might head back to Europe. They haven’t stopped being interested. The same goes for Georgyi Sudakov, even though it’ll take a super offer to lure him away from Shakhtar Donetsk.
They’ll get a head start and will have a large budget but will also have plenty of holes since their squad is too thin to handle three competitions. It’d help massively if the Osimhen saga didn’t drag on. They’ll need two quality pieces in every position, so they’ll have to sign at least another center-back, one or two fullbacks, a pair of midfielders, and a couple of wingers, including a star one. It’ll be a challenge despite the rich budget.
