The winger joined the Clarets in the summer of 2023, signing a two-year deal at Turf Moor which included an option to extend that by 12 months.

However, Burnley announced that Redmond is among those moving on this summer when his deal expires, meaning the 31-year-old will be on the lookout for a new club.

Birmingham City were monitoring Nathan Redmond in January window

It remains to be seen where Redmond ends up, but the attacker was linked with a return to Birmingham in the January window.

It had been claimed Chris Davies was keen to bring the player back to St. Andrew’s, which is the club where Redmond started his professional career, but a deal didn’t take place.

That would have been a source of frustration for Redmond, as he managed just two appearances for Burnley, with Scott Parker having plenty of options ahead of him in the pecking order.

Birmingham City, Nathan Redmond reunion makes a lot of sense

This summer is going to be a big one for Blues, and given their spending spree last summer, it will be an exciting time for fans as they wait to see who comes through the door.

In that sense, Redmond may not be the most exciting addition, as he has struggled with injuries in recent years, and he hasn’t got the game time he would’ve wanted in that period.

Nevertheless, it’s important to remember he is still only 31, so he should still have a few years, at least, at a high level.

At his best, Redmond was a proven Premier League player, so he could become an asset for Blues in the Championship. Plus, many would agree that Davies needs more wide players who are proven at this level.

When you add in the fact that he is available on a free, and that he has a connection with the club, it could be a shrewd addition for Birmingham if they can get this over the line. Furthermore, Redmond’s know-how and experience could be vital in the dressing room as Blues look to kick-on again following promotion.
