Several Liverpool players were in action for their respective countries on Sunday, and one of them was Andy Robertson.
The Reds left-back started for Scotland at Hampden Park and suffered a painful night as the Tartan Army lost 3-0 against Greece in the play-off second leg.
Liverpool are looking to sign a new left-back in the summer, and several players are seen as potential long-term replacements for Robertson.
Robertson made it clear that he is not bothered about his future and is determined to fight for his place in the side, even if the Reds sign a new left-back.
The 31-year-old left-back, however, will be disappointed by his own performance for Scotland, as the home side were thoroughly outclassed in their own backyard.
The Reds defender was very poor on the night against Konstantinos Karetsas. The first goal came down his side, and he should have done better.
The Scottish Sun wrote: “Skipper was up against wonderkid Konstantinos Karetsas on 82nd appearance. First goal came down his side then dragged inside to leave him free to score second. Subbed. 4”
The Scottish Daily Mail weren’t too impressed with the Liverpool full-back either. They have given him a 5/10 rating.
They wrote: “His early bursts down the left soon fizzled out. Part of a back four that never came to grips with the challenge.”
The Daily Record also noted that Greece’s first goal came down his flank, and they gave him a 5/10 rating.
The newspaper reported: “The first goal came down his flank. Tried to get forward in the first half but it was clear he was wary of the threat in behind.”
Robertson has been immense for the Reds over the years, and he is an integral part of the side that won the Premier League and the Champions League under Jurgen Klopp.
He is also the first-choice starter under Arne Slot, but he hasn’t always maintained the same level of performance for Liverpool this season.
The Reds defender has a contract at Anfield until 2026, and the summer represents a good opportunity for Liverpool to cash in on him, if they are indeed looking to sign his long-term replacement.
