According to a report by L’Équipe, Neal Maupay (28) is likely to start in Olympique de Marseille’s visit to the Stade de la Beaujoire to face FC Nantes. After returning from suspension following a red card against Angers SCO, Maupay spent last weekend on the bench when Marseille lost to their eternal rivals Paris Saint-Germain in Le Classique.
The bruising defeat reportedly led to questions from the Marseille technical staff who when watching back the game wondered if the former Brentford FC striker would have served the club better than the poor displays from Elye Wahi (21) and Mason Greenwood (23).
Maupay will be given another chance to start for the club (which would be his third start since moving from Everton on loan) in their visit to Nantes as Roberto De Zerbi’s side look to return to winning ways. Marseille remain in third ahead of this weekend but have already dropped six points behind PSG and three points behind AS Monaco and will be keen not to let the gap grow any wider.
