There was controversy from Italian media over the last few days, as La Penna, a referee from Rome, was appointed for the match.

When Nesta was asked his thoughts at a pre-match press conference on Saturday, he replied with a joke.

“Perhaps he supports Lazio,” said the former Biancocelesti centre-back.

“I don’t know, I don’t believe in these things. I always believe in people’s goodwill.”

Nesta played 261 games for Lazio, scoring three goals and helping the team win the Serie A title in 1999-00.
