Defender Stefan de Vrij is currently waiting to receive an offer of a contract extension from Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Dutchman wants a new two-year deal.
At the moment, de Vrij is under contract with Inter until the end of next June.
The former Lazio and Feyenoord signed his most recent extension with the Nerazzurri in 2023. He penned a two-year deal, choosing to remain rather than leaving on a free transfer.
But the end of that contract is starting to approach.
Therefore, if de Vrij does not sign an extension, he could leave at the end of this season.
As of yet, there have been no contract talks between Inter and de Vrij’s representatives. Therefore, the 32-year-old’s future remains up in the air.
But for his part, de Vrij would be happy to stay.
Therefore, the Dutchman is hoping that Inter will make an offer.
According to Tuttosport, de Vrij’s hope is for the offer of a two-year extension, until the end of June 2027.
However, as of yet, Inter have not made an offer.
In the meantime, de Vrij has put in a string of very solid displays in defense for Inter.
The Netherlands international has had to start regularly in the absence of Francesco Acerbi, out with a thigh injury.
