Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries picked the ‘Man of the Match’ award in tonight’s Serie A draw against Bologna.
However, the Dutchman couldn’t hide his frustration with the result during his post-match interview with DAZN via FCInterNews.
Vincenzo Italiano’s side held the reigning Scudetto holders to a 2-2 draw at the San Siro in a carbon copy of last season’s meeting.
Santiago Castro, heavily linked with a move to Inter lately, opened the scoring with a fortunate deflection.
But Inter bounced back only four minutes later as Dumfries took his league tally for the season to four goals.
When Lautaro Martinez completed the turnaround late in the first half, the hosts seemed on course for a first comeback this season.
However, Emil Holm’s first goal in the Bologna jersey denied Inter a seventh consecutive win in Serie A.
As a result, Simone Inzaghi’s charges could only reduce the gap on pacesetters Napoli to two points.
If it’s any consolation, they still have a game in hand.
Dumfries refused to celebrate despite being voted the “Man of the Match.”
“It’s hard to accept this draw,” he said after the game.
“We played well but conceded two goals in a certain way. However, we must look ahead.”
Tonight’s draw halted Inter’s imperious six-game winning run in Serie A.
However, Inzaghi’s men have extended their unbeaten streak in top-flight action to 14 outings since losing to AC Milan in mid-September.
Dumfries was superb, continuing his remarkable campaign. It was his third goal in 2025 after netting twice in the Supercoppa Italiana.
Asked whether this scoring patch pleases him, he replied: “Yes, but I’m not happy about tonight.
“The important thing is to keep going. I’m working every day to give my best.”
Inter will return to action on Sunday with a home clash against bottom-half Empoli.
