Nottingham Forest summer signing Omar Richards faces a spell on the sidelines with a hairline fracture in his leg.

One of 10 arrivals at the City Ground so far this summer, he has now been ruled out for the start of the season but early expectations are that he may only miss 10 weeks of action.

“Omar has picked up an injury, we are still getting to the bottom of it. But it is unfortunate what has happened. It is not going to be a few days but it is not going to be months and months and months,” Steve Cooper said after Wednesday night’s 3-1 wi over Hertha BSC.

“I guess the short-term feeling of it is one of disappointment, because we got him here, he was excited, he trained really well and he has had this set-back but nothing changes in terms of the plan for him, it will just be a little delayed.”

The 24-year-old can be deputised by Harry Toffolo, a left-back who signed in a double deal from Huddersfield Town on Wednesday.
