Leny Yoro has sent a message to Manchester United fans as he steps up his recovery by returning to group training after fracturing his metatarsal during pre-season.

The 18-year-old has yet to make his competitive debut for the club, which will likely come under new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Yoro will not be rushed back due to the seriousness of his injury. United will ease him back into action and his debut is likely to come after the November international break.

After suffering a nasty foot injury just weeks after arriving at United from Lille in a £52m deal, Yoro required surgery and had to sit out the start of the season. He didn’t get to play under Erik ten Hag, who brought him to the club after the Dutchman was sacked last week.

Yoro took to Instagram with pictures of him back in training. He captioned his post: “New start.”

United take on PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday night, and the game is likely to come too soon for Yoro. It will also be Ruud van Nistelrooy’s penultimate fixture as interim manager.

Van Nistelrooy provided an injury update ahead of the game, saying (via The Metro): “Different cases all of them. Tyrell is the furthest at the moment [from returning but] he has been part of team training for a couple of weeks [with] no restrictions.

“So, its good for him to plan game minutes, maybe in the Under 21s. We have to see.

“Harry is still inside doing work on his rehab. Luke is doing pitch work today, and he is progressing there to do partial team training, hopefully soon.

“For me, it is important to focus on the players who are currently fit, to manage them as good as I can. I think the players reacted really well with the Leicester game and the Chelsea game, and we are looking to build on that.”

When asked about Yoro, Van Nistelrooy added: “He has been managed very well since his injury in pre-season,” Van Nistelrooy says of Yoro. “It’s a big moment for him, the first time he is back in team training. Obviously, we are going to get him back partially in the coming weeks and [we are] looking to get him on board as quick as possible.”
