Adam Blackmore has revealed that Southampton is likelier to be sold by Dragan Solak next summer, rather than this summer.

This week, there have been rumours about Southampton being up for sale. To be frank, we didn't report on it, as the discussion was exactly that: rumours. Nothing concrete was reported, only speculation.

The speculation occurred when Simon Jordan mentioned that Southampton might be up for sale this summer. However, and Jordan might be the first to admit this, his comments were blown out of proportion.

Here's what Jordan actually said: "There is a rumour going around that Southampton are up for sale."

Exactly that. Jordan was relaying rumours he's heard, without too much context at all. In fairness, Jordan never claimed to be the oracle or omniscient, he was simply speaking like a fan at the pub would.

While Jordan might be right, most clubs are always technically "up for sale." It works the same as player transfers; if the right price comes in, the decision becomes easier. Ultimately, something is only worth as much as another person or entity is willing to pay for it.

New update reveals when Dragan Solak might sell Southampton

According to Adam Blackmore on X, Sport Republic is just testing the waters at this stage. It's more likely that Southampton will be sold next summer, depending on how next season goes. For now, Dragan Solak remains committed to owning Southampton.

Blackmore said: "I had heard a rumour about [Southampton FC] being for sale, but I think most clubs are all the time in reality - maybe [Sport Republic] put feelers out but I think Dragan [Solak] is committed for now. Maybe it changes if next season doesn’t go well. That’s more likely."

I know, I know. A collective round of grumbles from the Southampton supporters, who appear pretty unanimous in their hatred towards Solak. But hey, at least this won't add to the uncertainty heading into next season, right?
