This latest warm weather training camp sees Eddie Howe and his players (who aren’t on international duty), travel to Saudi Arabia after Sunday’s game at Nottingham Forest, as reported by The Mail.

Newcastle United travelled to Saudi Arabia for the first time after the October 2021 Saudi Arabia PIF takeover in January 2022, staying in Jeddah.

Relegation looked a certainty after only one win in their opening 20 Premier League matches that season, as the new owners and Eddie Howe attempted to rebuild after the devastation they inherited from Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce. That warm weather trip helping to work wonders, as United then went on a run of six wins and a draw in seven games, that effectively took them to safety.

During the Premier League break for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar, Newcastle United made their second and most recent trip to Saudi Arabia in the December, this time staying in Riyadh, where they lifted the Diriyah Cup. A 5-0 win over Al-Hilal, with goals from Joelinton (2), Miguel Almiron (2) and Dylan Stephenson.

Whilst they have had other warm weather trips to Dubai in the intervening two years, this will be a third visit to Saudi Arabia for Eddie Howe and his players after a couple of years gap.
