The German winger has been subject of interest from the Tyneside club before and it was claimed that Eddie Howe was looking at the attacker with a view to possibly making a bid for him either in January or this coming summer, but that he wasn’t as high up on the list of potential targets.

Scouts were in attendance at Celtic Park last night

Now Mail Online have claimed that scouts were in attendance at Celtic Park yesterday evening, to watch the former Rapid Vienna player stut his stuff on the big stage of the UEFA Champions League knockouts. It’s reported that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has earmarked the player for a possible summer transfer window move down the road, with a £20 million fee mentioned.

It’s all purely conjecture at this point as nobody knows for sure what will happen into the future but one things for certain, Kühn is definitely in the form of his life right now at Parkhead. Both he and Daizen Maeda are in the running and most likely head-to-head for our Player of the Year award. Julian Nagelsmann has been casting his eye over the pacey wide man with a view to giving him a national team call-up, although Kühn is said to be one of several players the German head coach is watching just now.

Kuhn’s magical fairytale start cruelly denied

Newcastle United’s scouts would have been dazzled with Kühn in the opening seconds of the game last night, as he pinned the Bayern Munich defence back and cut inside to smash in a goal inside 25 seconds. It wasn’t to be the magical fairytale start we had all dreamed of though, with the linesman putting up his flag due to Adam Idah blocking Manuel Neuer’s view from an offside position.

No matter what, there is going to be interest this summertime in both Kühn and Maeda and the club should be doing their homework properly to ensure we have adequate cover and protection if they do depart. A repeat of the Kyogo Furuhashi situation must be avoided, as we have crucial play-off qualifiers for the Champions League to contend with once again this coming August.
