The Blues beat Eddie Howe’s side on Sunday in a 2-1 Premier League victory, largely inspired by the excellence of Cole Palmer.

Head coach Enzo Maresca has plenty of options to change things up too, with what his largely considered his second-string hugely impressing in Thursday’s 4-1 win over Panathinaikos in the Conference League.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Newcastle vs Chelsea is scheduled for a 7.45pm GMT kick-off time on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Newcastle vs Chelsea team news

Anthony Gordon was ruled out of the weekend game with a groin injury, and won't be fit in time for this meeting with Chelsea. Eddie Howe will also be without Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson and long-term absentees Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles.

Chelsea are in rude health and Enzo Maresca should resort to his 'B' team with his cup game, meaning the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Benoit Badiashile should all get the nod to start.

Newcastle vs Chelsea prediction

Chelsea looked good value for their win over Newcastle in the Premier League at the weekend and should follow it up with more of the same three days later, albeit after a trip up north and with a few changes to the line-up.

Chelsea to win, 2-1.
