In an interview with Olympique-et-Lyonnais, Nicolás Tagliafico (32) has revealed that he is still undecided on his future at Lyon and he will make any decision at the end of the season. As things stand, the World Cup winner is set to leave Les Gones as a free agent with his contract set to expire in June.
The Argentina international defender has been a mainstay at OL this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions, but still hasn’t committed his future to the Rhône club. Tagliafico is currently free to negotiate with other clubs over a potential pre-contract agreement. However, the former Ajax full-back has revealed this is not on his radar.
OL are keen on offering the 32-year-old a new contract that would extend his stay at the Groupama Stadium. Despite the Ligue 1 outfit’s desire to keep Tagliafico, the left-back revealed that no talks have taken place as of yet, “No, I haven’t spoken with the club.”
Lyon are still in the UEFA Europa League and can qualify for the UEFA Champions League through the league. Qualification for Europe’s premier competition could be crucial to his decision. Commenting on his future, the Argentine said, “In the end, if we try to get into the top four and qualify for the Champions League, there may be the possibility, yes, why not? So, it will depend a lot on the end of the season here and the options of other clubs.”
