West Ham‘s latest move for Jhon Duran was always set for failure, its been reported by our Patreon channel.

This week saw the shock news that West Ham had tabled a £57m bid for the Aston Villa striker, which was surprising considering we wouldn’t meet the £40m valuation in the summer.

Following an excellent season for the midlands club so far, Duran’s value has understandably risen considerably. However the latest move from West Ham to sign the player appears to have been made knowing full well it would be unsuccessful.

“West Ham lodged a bid for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran earlier this week, but unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends,” read the update.

“The club made the offer knowing Villa had already rejected a €75 million bid from Paris Saint-Germain during this transfer window.

“It appears our bid was made without any real expectation of success. Furthermore, the reported offer of £57 million plus add-ons has been refuted. A trusted source told us, “It was less than that; the add-ons took it to £57m.

“As mentioned earlier, the Colombian striker had no intention of signing for the Hammers, feeling “let down and humiliated” during the summer.

“West Ham would also struggle to match the striker’s current Aston Villa salary, reportedly £30,000 per week higher than the Hammers’ top earner. Any potential move for the 21-year-old would require an additional pay increase, which the Irons simply cannot afford.

“In effect, it seems West Ham made a bid for Duran in full knowledge that a larger bid had already been rejected and that the player would need to take a pay cut to join.

“Additionally, Manchester United are reportedly extremely keen on Duran, with several top-level clubs also vying for his signature. I have been told the Old Trafford club have been ‘begging’ the players agents to talk him into a move to Manchester but he wants to join a top team.”
