Reports that Liverpool have been alerted to Adrien Rabiot being available on a free transfer this summer has garnered quite the reaction from supporters on social media.

As new head coach Arne Slot weighs up his midfield options ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, the France international's name continues to crop up in the gossip columns.

Although, having recruited Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister last summer, it would appear the Reds are on the market for a more defensive minded midfielder to provide competition for Wataru Endo and Rabiot isn't a natural number six.

However, with the 29-year-old a free agent after leaving Serie A giants at the end of last month following the expiry of his contract, he could turn out to be a shrewd addition should the club pursue a deal.

In a potential boost for Liverpool, Italian news outlet Tuttosport have claimed that Juventus don’t see re-signing Rabiot as a priority task this summer especially after Khephren Thuram and Douglas Luiz, not to mention a deal expected for Teun Koopmeiners before the window slams shut.

Furthermore, the report names Liverpool, Bayern Munich and AC Milan as contenders for Rabiot’s signature and now that the midfielder's involvement at Euro 2024 has come to an end, he will now focus on sorting out his future.

Liverpool supporters say no to Rabiot deal

Of course with any transfer rumour there is bound to be a huge reaction and talk of Rabiot potentially being on Liverpool's radar has triggered some supporters to express their feelings on such links.

Judging by the majority of responses on X (formerly Twitter) it would appear many Reds fans are against the idea of the midfielder making the move to Anfield this summer.

For example, @markus__lfc said: "No thanks", @wri8317032 said: "Not for me. Enough talent in midfield but adding one more, not him not good enough", @MHowardLFC said: "Picked Juve over us last time around because they offered bigger wages. No thanks."

@Stevejauch said: "Not a chance. Doesn’t suit Edwards & Hughes profile of signing", @LIVERBIRD2904 said: "No thank you" and @read_btwn_line5 suggested an alternative signing: "Can we have Fabian Ruiz instead?"

Fortunately for the aforementioned Liverpool fans, it has been claimed that Rabiot favours a move to Real Madrid, who are looking for a Toni Kroos replacement following his retirement.
